Leading the pricing and reimbursement process for an oncology product in European markets

Client need

Our client had an acute need for a partnership to manage their pricing and reimbursement process, as their internal teams were not able to support an in-licensed product. There were significant challenges in health economic modelling and an absence of available legacy materials for the in-licensed product; tight timelines for milestone payments in contract with originator company posed an additional challenge.

Our response

Initiate stepped in to create a launch sequence which met the contractual obligations while maximising revenue with a strict price corridor. A Core Value Dossier and economic model were created, and we were responsible for the long-term management of country dossier creation and submission for HTA and P&R. We were responsible for the management of all interactions with country assessment teams in EU5, Nordics, Benelux, and other selected markets.

Client value

The project allowed our client to secure strong recommendations for access at prices within the pricing corridor. 12 out of 15 target markets were reimbursed in 18 months, and 100% of target markets were reimbursed within 22 months, well ahead of expectations. Additionally, revenue was realised earlier than expected and the product was transferred from the originator to the company.
